Whereas whenever a High Definition Wig parts, whether you part it or it parts on its own, people actually think they are seeing your scalp, when in fact they are seeing the base of the wig." The makers of lace wigs are not eager to share their trade secrets on how these wigs are actually made. Suffice it to say, lace wigs are prized because of the fact that they look so natural and are made from human hair or are made so well they look like they're made of human hair. Features
- The cap of the wig is constructed of lace, similar to what you would see in a typical pair of pantyhose. The lace is available in many different shades to blend perfectly with your skin tone; this makes the hair of the wig appear to grow right out of your head and makes it virtually undetectable. Hair is hand tied onto the lace. The knots are bleached to make them less noticeable. The wig may or may not be lined with a skin-tone cap. The skin-tone cap will need to be used if your natural hair will show through the lace cap.

- Because of the lace lining of the wig, you can trim the edges of the wig to match your present or former hair line. Lace wigs are usually custom fitted at a wig shop to perfectly fit your head. Some shops sell "stock" lace wigs, which will have extra lace hanging around the edges. This lace will be trimmed off as you fit the wig to your head. Care
- Lace wigs are cared for much the same way you would care for the hair growing on your head. Wigs should be kept clean and washed accordingly. It is recommended to wet the hair with an equal mixture of water and conditioner. Lay the hair out flat, and brush it to prevent it from tangling. Use a mild shampoo to clean the hair. Continue to brush the hair while you are shampooing and rinsing it to prevent tangles. The wig can be blow dried, but it is not recommended, as this can cause the hair to become dry and frizzy. It is best to hang the wig up on a wig stand and let it air dry.
Precautions
- It is not advised to color, tint or perm a lace wig, because it has already been chemically processed in its production. This is especially true with blonde or other light-colored hair. When swimming, it is recommended that you always wear a swim cap. Wash the hair as soon as possible after swimming, to prevent damage from chlorine or salt water. It is not recommended that you wear your wig when you are in a spa, as the excessive moisture can cause the wig to frizz and tangle.
Full Lace Wigs
- The full lace wig is one that covers the most of the wearer's head. The full lace wig is made to fit the wearer's head and it can follow the wearer's natural hairline. A nice feature of these wigs is that they can be made with a part and can even be styled.
Lace Front Wigs
- This lace wig does not cover as much of the wearer's head as a full lace wig. The lace front wig covers the front of the head, and runs from ear to ear. A good feature of this wig is that you can repair it easily. However, it can't be styled as easily as a full lace wig.
